The BDBC Member's Area...

Greetings Fellow Bellevile Dragon Boat Club Members...

Our focus in the Member's Area is communication. To that end, over the next few weeks/months we will be developing a bigger and better Members Area so that you can always find the information you need. We also plan to make all of the announcements posted here available on paper in the clubhouse for those of you who do not have easy access to the Internet.

Until we get our new technology in place, we will be posting all Member news below on this page. It will be in "Blog" format with the most recent posted at the top of the list with older messages below.

Annual General Meeting - Official Announcement
The Board of Directors of the Belleville Flatwater Racing Club Inc. o/a Belleville Dragon Boat Club hereby announce the date for our 2008 AGM (Annual General Meeting) is Tuesday January 15, 2008.

All paying members of the BDBC are welcome to attend. We encourage you to help to direct the future of our club by coming to the AGM and voting for next years Board of Directors.

End of Season Party...
Thanks everybody from the Belleville Dragon Boat club for making our Awards Gala such a sucess. We need to thank two groups, those who organized our party and those who attended. It wouldn't have been such a perfect evening without all of you.

Winter Training
For those of you who are looking for some help staying in paddling shape over the off season, Greg, Larry, Karen S and Karen M are working on organizing "Winter Training". For all the details, check out our Off Season Training Schedule.

Paddling ends for the Belleville Dragon Boat Club...
Due to a general shortage of daylight, the last Rec/Machine practice for the 2007 season was October 16th. And, the last Grand Masters practice was October 24th. Thanks to everyone for a great season on the water! See you next year.

We have a New Board Member!
The Board would like to welcome Karen Mckeown who has accepted an invitation to fill one of the vacant positions on the club's Board of Directors. Until the next AGM, Karen will be a "Director at Large". Thanks Karen, and enjoy:)

Gearing up for the Florida Training Camp!
As many of you know, GWN runs a Dragon Boat Training Camp in Florida each spring. In past years quite a few of our members have attended and there are lots of members interested in attending again this year.

The general information is available at the GWN website. If you are interested in going, Tiffany has volunteered to handle the initial organization, so please contact her at tiffanyaward22 @ yahoo.ca.

The rumor is that the 2nd week is when most people will be going - but that is not confirmed.

Congratulations are Due!
If you haven't heard, the Grand Masters won a ton of Gold in Calgary last weekend!

Check out the details and be sure to give them a high five when you see them.

Want to go Faster: Be a Coach Boat Driver.
Our goal is to have our coach boat out for every practice, but we currently do not have enough qualified operators to make that happen. So, if you are willing to commit to driving the coach boat on a regular basis (depending on the number of interested drivers), we would be happy to cover the cost of you acquiring your "Pleasure Craft Operator Card". Contact Nancy for more info.

The Club gets a New Name...
Just in case you hadn't noticed... We have officially changed the name of our club from "Belleville Paddling Club" to "Belleville Dragon Boat Club".

We made the change to better reflect what we do.

When the club was first created, the founders thought that it would grow to encompass all types of flat water paddling sports. But since dragon boating has become so popular, and since other clubs in the area focus on many of the other paddling sports, we have decided to keep our focus just on Dragon Boat paddling and racing.
