Meet the Key Members of our Club...

The Belleville Dragon Boat Club's 2008 Board of Directors consists of the following members:

Nancy Lewis - Commodore
Nancy will be returning to the BDBC as Commodore for a second term. This is her fifth season of paddling and it has been an exciting time! She competed with the Cobourg Dragon Boat Club Grand Harbour Masters crew at the Worlds Club Crew Championships held in Toronto in 2006. Nancy was also a member of the crew from Belleville who attended the Canadian Nationals (Calgary 2007) and successfully secured a berth to the Worlds Malaysia in 2008.

Gai Tran - Vice Commodore

Mary Olsen - Secretary
This is Marys third season with our club and my first time serving on the executive. She paddled at the Canadian Nationals with the Grand Masters in Calgary in 2007. The sport is fun and a good physical workout and you meet lots of wonderful people.

Tomiko Taylor - Past Commodore
This is Tomiko's seventh year paddling and third year as a member of the Executive. Tomiko paddled with the St. Joseph's Health Centre-The Saints before relocating to Belleville. She is looking forward to another great year of paddling. Paddles Up!

Karen Smith - Treasurer
This is Karens fourth year paddling on the competitive team and fourth year on the executive. I am looking forward to another great year with the club as it grows and developes. This year my paddling will take me to Penang, Malaysia for the World's Club Crew Championships with the Toronto Outer Harbour Senior Women. I hope to inspire and encourage new paddlers to this wonderful sport. Paddles Up!

Susan Robertson - Director of Fundraising

Stephen Sandlos - Director of Publicity/Web Design
This is Stephen's third year as a member of the recreational paddling crew and 2008 is his second year on the Board of the BDBC. He brings over ten years of Internet marketing and website management skills to the club and hopes to continue to improve the public image of the Belleville Dragon Boat Club in the community.

Cheryl Drumm - Director of Social Events
This is a second year paddling for Cheryl. I have competed at Pickering, Wellington and Cobourg. Best known as "GALA GIRL". I am looking forward to an exciting season on the water.

Lisa Grills - Director of Membership
This is Lisa's second year as a paddler, and first year on the executive. It did not take long to realize that dragon boating was definately the summer sport of choice. Lisa looks forward to an exciting year, full of change and possibilities. Summer in the Quinte area is exceptional, particularly on the water with a paddle in hand. Spread the word!

Antonina V.Durham - Director at Large
Please, feel free to call her "Toni"! Being her second year paddling in Belleville and her first year on the Executive, Toni brings her expertise in biology and teamwork to the wonderful club, and is looking forward to fulfill her role as a Director at Large.

Kay Manderville - Director at Large
Kay joined the Belleville Dragon Boat in May 2007. She participated in Belleville, Pickering, Wellington, and Coburg regattas. Prior to joining the Club, she had paddled many times with Volunteer groups in the Waterfront Festival and always loved the challenge. She is going to Florida this April for training to become a better paddler in 2008!

Tiffany Ward - Director at Large

Larry Bird - Co-Coach of the Competitive Program
Larry is a former Canadian National Dragon Boat Team member with over twenty years of competitive flat-water paddling experience. Larry's enthusiasm for coaching and the love of the sport shows in his winning coaching style.

Greg Taylor - Co-Coach of the Competitive Program
Greg has been active in the sport for 16 years, starting as a lifeguard for the first dragon boat crews in Canada. He paddled competitively in Toronto with Riptide for eight years before moving to Belleville three years ago. Greg competed at the World Club Crew Championships in Toronto in 2006 with the Philippines National Team.

Tim Austin - Coach of the Recriational Program Tim has coached the Belleville Dragon Boat Club's Recreational program for several years. He completed his coaching certification in 2007.

Ayana Hutchinson - Coach of the Pink Dragons
