2008 Belleville Dragon Boat Festival!

Once again the Belleville Dragon Boat Club have teamed up with the United Way of Quinte to present the 2008 Belleville Dragon Boat Festival.
We are making some major changes to the Belleville dragon boat festival this year. Since we are a non-profit, community based organization, our focus is moving away from the highly competitive, Sports division and toward a more fun - community sprit minded event. Because of our new direction, we have many decisions to make and a lot of reorganization to do, so we apologize for not having much detail for you about our dragon boat races at this time. Please check back soon for more information.

Festival Date:
This is a one day dragon boat festival, we will race rain or shine:
Saturday September 13th, 2008
Race Format:
All races are 250m sprint races
Location:
The Belleville dragon boat festival is located at Victoria Park in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. The dragon boat races will be held adjacent to the park, on the Moira River, which flows out to the Bay of Quinte. Belleville is about an hour and a half east of Toronto and a little more than two hours from Ottawa along highway 401.
Crew Details:
- 20 paddlers per crew (must have a minimum of 8 women paddlers)
- 2 training sessions are provided for each crew - for an addition cost training sessions can be booked
- All necessary racing and safety gear will be provided
- Medals will be awarded for overall and local champions
- Plaques for divisional champs
- Experienced steers person provided

Just to clarify, this event is a purely community oriented festival called the "Belleville Dragon Boat Festival in support of the Quinte United Way". Our event focuses on generating community sprit and all proceeds from this festival are being donated to the United Way of Quinte.
This event is not affiliated in any way with the commercial dragon boating event titled "Belleville Sprints Dragon Boat Festival" that is run by Pat Bradley and his business, "Quinte Dragon Sports". The Belleville Sprints event focuses on competitive dragon boating teams.
